Uber has integrated WeRide's autonomous vehicles into its platform for the first time in Saudi Arabia, launching a robotaxi pilot between Roshn Front and Princess Noura University. The service—currently supervised by human safety operators—represents a strategic step toward fully driverless operations in the region.

The initiative follows WeRide's July milestone as Saudi Arabia's first permitted robotaxi operator, building on its Abu Dhabi partnership with Uber in late 2024. "This expansion accelerates AV adoption across the Middle East," stated Uber's Head of Autonomous Mobility, Sarfraz Maredia.
